Anthropology Workshop
Simon Petkovic has had a long time interest in computers, philosophy, psychology, neurology, and human/plant co-evolution. His musical interests span across various genres including Latin, Jazz, Metal, Classical, and all styles of Electronic (and everything in between). From the age of 11 through to 19, he was a student of Ballroom and Latin dancing and participated in several competitions throughout Queensland. After graduation from High school in 2003, he began his degree in Anthropology at JCU Cairns.
This year marks the start of his honours degree within the discipline of Anthropology, which he has been studying for the past four and a half years. Coupled with his bedroom hobby of tinkering with synthesizers and his audiophilic nature, Simon's thesis topic has led him to explore the phenomenon of Synaesthesia and ritual trance dance within the context of the Australia bush Doof dance floor:
Of particular ethnographic interest is The Winter Solstice 2010.
Lecture 1: Overview of my Thesis so far - Artificially induced Synaesthesia: Challenges for Anthropology.
Lecture 2: Mind, Spirit, Emotion, Culture, & Cosmos:- All danced into being.
